Grim Algorithm
By Fara Djuchri and jason harding.
these grim algorithmic experiments – this cracked magic mirror – i found myself again – but not inside that experiment – not inside that tweaked mirror – that synthesis – that’s where I lost myself to begin with – I found myself – but not inside my own home – but then perhaps I was never truly there – already lost inside that artificial playground of hurt – I found myself again a thousand miles away – on the ground – on the streets – covered in dust – lust – everything started to rhyme there – make sense – on this journey to find my self – I had a blast but – on my tail bleak tech the all powerful all sinister actor – I once wondered – no I worried – no I was petrified – that I – we – were never going to get out of here – and I had no idea how to do it – to rise – realise – but then it dawned on me that I was already doing it

Note
This was written a long time ago from a series of ideas shared over a semester with Fara Djuchri – a student undertaking a course with me focused on technology innovation and design. Her alias was The Girl In The Red Coat. I remember Fara asked me how it might be possible to reflect on all the things she had played with over the entire course and turn it into a short speech / spoken word performance. I told her “I see an amazing link between your algorithmic experiments and this ache you have on ‘never getting out of this’.” I also remember her saying she “had no idea how to do it“. I typed back “you already are Fara”. And then sent the linked up text above.
